Studio Vergara is the design platform of Antonio Vergara Ruiz, exploring everything in architecture, beyond architecture, and in between.
The studio moves across a multitude of scales and approaches. Antonio explores the forms of buildings and urban spaces to digital sculptures, immersive environments, and products. At Studio Vergara, the work is grounded in the belief that form is never neutral, rather carrying a memory of its context, and agency to shape public life, respond to its climate, and shed light on forgotten communities, stories, and environments.
At Studio Vergara, architecture is not a fixed discipline, but an expanded playing field where design and creative craft flows. Through Rhino, Grasshopper, visualization, XR, and physical/digital modeling workflows, the studio investigates how space, objects, and environments can become tools for empowerment, development, and transformation.
Inspired by the efforts of critical regionalism to mediate local and global languages of architecture, Antonio’s work uses contemporary digital methods and technologies to reinterpret local, cultural, and environmental intelligence across architecture, objects, and digital environments.
